Thomas Jefferson Elementary opened their own food pantry this spring to better serve their school families in need. The "TJ Market" made its first distribution on Monday, May 13 after school to about 12 families.
The school is planning to do two distributions a month. Volunteers from Union Federal Credit Union in Milan are staffing the pantry.
"The TJ Market gives us another way to serve our families at Thomas Jefferson," said Principal Mike Nitzel. "We are also grateful for our volunteers from Union Federal Credit Union and we couldn't have made this happen without them."
