Ian Scott

Principal, Thomas Jefferson Elementary School, Milan, IL

Ian Scott began his career with the Rock Island-Milan School District in 2014. He started as a 6th-grade teacher, later transitioned to teaching 5th grade, and eventually moved into the role of Student Assistance Manager (SAM) at the Rock Island Center for Math and Science (RICMS). After three years in that position, Mr. Scott was named Interim Principal at Thomas Jefferson Elementary in Milan for the 2022–2023 school year and was appointed as the permanent Principal for the 2023–2024 school year.

A passionate and dedicated educator, Mr. Scott places strong emphasis on building meaningful relationships within his school community. He believes that a positive attitude and consistent effort are essential to the learning process for both scholars and educators. At Thomas Jefferson Elementary, scholars begin each day by reciting the motto, “Be Curious and Be Kind,” a guiding principle that fosters both academic achievement and social-emotional growth.

Mr. Scott resides in Eldridge, Iowa, with his wife of 20 years and their three children. He enjoys spending time outdoors and coaching his children in basketball and baseball.
