Happy October!
Here are some important dates to keep in mind for this month.
When we return from fall break, we will begin the initial meetings regarding the Wireless Communication Device Policy. Illinois law requires school districts to establish a Wireless Communication Device Policy by the 2027–2028 school year.
Please visit the event pages on our district calendar for meeting dates, times, locations, and virtual meeting information: https://www.rimsd41.org/events

We're proud to share our October 2026 Shout-Outs and celebrate the educators, support staff, administrators, and team members who help our district thrive. Thank you to everyone who took the time to recognize a colleague – your kind words help shine a light on the people who make RIMSD such a special place!

Our anti-bullying PSA is here, and we have an important message to share: Say no to bullying!
The Communications Department and Student Services teamed up with colleagues and scholars across RIMSD-41 to spread this important message.
Creating a safe, welcoming environment starts with each of us. A little kindness, speaking up, and looking out for one another can make a big difference.
Together, we can make sure every scholar and team member feels safe, supported, and valued. Because in the Rock Island-Milan School District, Rocky Pride means looking out for one another! ❤️💛
OPERATION PRINCIPAL APPRECIATION: A SUCCESS!
October is National Principals Month, and last week, we celebrated our amazing principals in a special way during Principals Appreciation Week! ❤️ Our administrative team visited schools each day with small surprises to show our principals just how much they are appreciated. The week wrapped up with a special Principal Appreciation Luncheon on Friday, October 23, at Pagalo’s Pizzeria & Gelato Cafe in Milan!
Each day brought a little something different, along with a reminder of just how much our principals mean to our school communities!
🍿 Monday: Popcorn — Thanks for popping in and making a difference!
🖍️ Tuesday: Highlighters — You highlight the best in everyone!
🍬 Wednesday: Life Savers — You are lifesavers to our schools and communities!
🍫 Thursday: Reese’s — There’s no one quite like you!
🍕 Friday: We wrapped up the week with a luncheon celebrating the incredible leaders who work hard every day to support our scholars, staff, and families.
A big THANK YOU to our administrative team for helping make this week special, and an even bigger thank you to our principals for the dedication, leadership, and care you bring to your schools every day. Your work makes a difference, and we are grateful for everything you do!
As National Principals Month continues, we're celebrating the incredible leaders who help RIMSD thrive. Thank you for leading, inspiring, and making a difference in our school communities every single day! 👏
Thank you both for your dedication to supporting our scholars, uplifting our school communities, and making a positive difference in the lives of others. We are proud to celebrate this well-deserved recognition!

Check this out! 📚📖 We are so proud of Alanis Borner, Thomas Jefferson’s 5th grader, who is already writing her own books!
We love seeing our scholars bring their creativity to life and follow their passions. Keep it up, Alanis! We can’t wait to see what you write next!
Made possible through funding from the Rock Island-Milan Education Foundation, this special day gave our scholars the chance to get creative, try something new, and express themselves through the arts.
Scholars had the opportunity to explore the arts and movement through Cardio Drumming with Coach Evan Dupuis and create their own art pieces alongside Edison Jr. High Art Teacher Mrs. Cassandra Salas-Mikaio and her intern, RIHS senior Marley Smith.
A big congratulations to Dr. Giovanna Davila on another successful TJ Fine Arts Day, and thank you for continuing to create memorable experiences for our scholars!

Happy Fall Intersession! 🍂🍁
Wishing everyone a safe and restful break! Enjoy the time to relax and recharge. We’ll see everyone back on Monday, October 19.

Today, we’re celebrating and thanking our incredible RIMSD41 custodians who work behind the scenes every day to keep our schools clean, safe, and welcoming for our scholars and staff.
Your hard work makes a difference every single day. Thank you for all that you do!

Our scholars had the opportunity to showcase their talents through singing, dancing, and playing instruments, making it a memorable celebration of music, creativity, and collaboration.
A special kudos to Dr. Giovanna Davila, TJ Music Teacher; Mr. Scott Voigt, RIHS Choir Director; and Felicia Phillips, RIHS Assistant Choral Director, for helping bring this incredible performance to life!
